Omicron Cygni8 views2006-06-12 22:33:00 Omicron Cygni NULL 9x63 Meade Travelview Binoculars 5.8° field of view 9 Naked eye optical double (mag. 3.78 and 3.93, but 250 light years apart, so not a true double), Omicron 1 Cygni (center) to the south, Omicron 2 Cygni to the north, both yellow-orange. To the northwest is 30695 Cygni which appears to be a blue-green (mainly from contrast) companion of Omicron 1 Cygni in binoculars, but again, it is a chance alignment. The three stars are just west of Deneb and northwest of Sadr in Cygnus.

Ganymede Transit of Jupiter62 viewssketch (rendered in Photoshop)
7/7/07 at 21:19 at Alpha Ridge Park
through Celestron C6-R, 15mm plossl eyepiece, 52 degree apparent field of view,
80x magnification.
Shadow faded in and out, as did two stars above and right of Jupiter. The four Galilean moons are labeled.
I saw four stripes, two prominent, and two subtle. Slight blue fringe around Jupiter.
Jupiter and four moons were yellow, and the stripes a reddish-brown.
Transit appeared to end around 10pm.Jul 08, 2007
